Fix your eyes on God, not on your problems.

O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us, and we do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You.” — 2 Chronicles 20:12

In 2 Chronicles chapter 20, three armies march against King Jehoshaphat. Faced with this threat, he is afraid, but he makes a decisive choice: to seek the Lord and proclaim a fast. Confronted with a situation he does not understand, Jehoshaphat declares: “We do not know what to do… but our eyes are on You.”

Fix your eyes on God. It means fixing your gaze on His greatness, believing that God is greater than the greatest of your problems. Jeremiah 10:6, “There is none like You, O Lord! You are great, and Your name is great in might.”

Fix your eyes on God. It means fixing your eyes on His omnipotence. Nothing and no one is above His infinite power. His power has no limits. Luke 1:37, “For nothing will be impossible with God. Jeremiah 32:27, “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for Me?” Your problems are not too difficult for God. Put your trust in Him.

Fix your eyes on God. It means fixing your eyes on His omniscience. God knows all things, past, present, and future. Psalm 147:5, Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.”

Fix your eyes on God. It means fixing your eyes on His love. John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Fix your eyes on God. It means fixing your eyes on His faithfulness. God is faithful to Himself, to His Word, and to His promises. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 ,“But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.”

Fix your eyes on God. It means fixing your eyes on His eternity. God is eternal and has eternal life in Himself. He will always be there. Psalm 102:12, “But You, O Lord, shall endure forever, and the remembrance of Your name to all generations.”

Fix your eyes on God. It means fixing your eyes on His sovereignty. God is absolutely sovereign; He does whatever He pleases. Psalm 115:3, Our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases. Psalm 103:19, “The Lord has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all.” If you love the Lord, serve Him with all your heart and believe in His sovereignty; in the face of your problems, you can boldly declare that all things work together for the good of those who love God, Romans 8:28.

God delivered King Jehoshaphat in an extraordinary way because he fixed his eyes on Him; thus, God fought for him. 2 Chronicles 20:17 ,“You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”

Do you want God to act on your behalf in your problems? Fix your eyes on Him and not on your problems.

May the Lord be with you!
