Mark 9 : 22,23 It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.” If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.
A father brought his son to Jesus seeking healing for the boy, who was afflicted by a spirit that rendered him mute. However, the father was unable to locate Jesus, who was on the mountain accompanied by Peter, James, and John. In his desperation, he turned to Jesus' disciples for assistance, but they were unable to heal the child. This left the father in a state of despair. Upon Jesus' arrival, He noticed a large crowd and inquired about the discussion taking place. At that moment, the father stepped forward to explain the situation. Jesus expressed disappointment towards His disciples for their inability to heal the boy. It is important to remember that as followers of Jesus, we possess authority, as stated in Luke 10:19: "Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you." The father's doubt grew as he witnessed the disciples' failure to cast out the spirit. He implored Jesus, saying, "If you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us." In doing so, he inadvertently limited Jesus, who is capable of the impossible. Jesus responded, "If you can? All things are possible to him who believes," and then commanded the spirit to depart from the boy, resulting in the child's healing. The father's hope had waned due to the disciples' inability to assist, but fortunately, Jesus arrived and restored the child to health.
It is possible that you have sought assistance from others regarding your challenges related to illness, unemployment, fear, or anxiety, only to find yourself feeling disheartened and uncertain about the next steps. I would like to assure you that Jesus is present for you as well. Prior to His departure from this world, Jesus reassured His disciples with the words found in Matthew 28:20: "And behold, I am with you every day, until the end of the world." This signifies that Jesus can accompany you even in your most desperate circumstances. I encourage you to welcome Him into your life and to place your faith in Him. He is the God of the impossible and serves as the mediator between you and God, as stated in John 14:6: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Seek God wholeheartedly, and you will discover Him, as promised in Jeremiah 29:13.
Amen.
